The Coupling/Decoupling Networks (CDNs) that are part of the T Series CDNs are for specifically designed to test cables with unshielded balanced pairs. These type of cables are typically found in Telecommunication applications like ISDN, DSL and Ethernet.
Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cables are found in telephone systems and most Ethernet networks. UTP cables consists of one, two or four balanced pairs depending on the application it is used for. The T Series CDNs are designed to test cables up to 8 wires (4 pairs).
Calibration is required before testing starts. Here you can find more information about Shorting Adapters and Calibration of Coupling/Decoupling Networks.
